A big ole Howdy from Texas, y'all! Alexandria Simpson here, glad you've found my blog. I've been birding for a little over 8 years and have enjoyed it for the most part. Currently, I'm in West Texas, with a ranch in Central Texas
I served as Student Blog Editor for The Eyrie, the ABA's young birder blog, mentoring other young birders and recruiting writings for 4 years, from 2011-2014 I miss it. I also serve as a youth ambassador for the Texas Brigades, summer camps for teenagers that teach leadership and wildlife. My first year was also 2011 and the past four years, I've been a mentor/counselor, something I enjoy immensely
I've been working full time as a graphic designer for a year now. I haven't given up on wanting to work in the biology and birding fields...graphic design will never replace birding, but it does put food on the table. I still dream about leading tours and/or working as a researcher.
Anyways, I'm grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way because of birding. A lot of people are surprised when they find out about all the wonderful honors and awards I've received. Honestly, how many other people can brag they were been published in an internationally-circulated magazine at age 17? I've been called a genius, but somehow, I doubt that. I do see I'm brainy, that's rather apparent, but unless the glasses and "geekiness" are the only requirements, that title applies to such as Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein, not Alexandria Simpson.
And with that, I'm saying goodbye. May your birding be blessed!
Alexandria
